Elliot sees individuals ages 14+

Meet Elliot

As an immigrant to the United States, Elliot faced various cultural, social, and economic challenges during his adolescence which formed in him a passion for wholeness and well-being. Working through the resulting depression, anxiety, and identity confusion for many years, he came to experience first-hand healing and growth that he now seeks to share with his clients. The experiences of these transformative years form the building blocks of Elliot’s counseling approach. Eclectically utilizing cognitive, mindfulness-based, and contemplative approaches to therapy, Elliot is eager to listen in order to discover resources already present in your life, to witness the obstacles and challenges you’ve overcome, and to tell you that your feelings and longings make sense. In therapy, Elliot’s basic commitment is to treat you with unconditional warmth and regard. The safety provided by this softened perception will motivate you to explore without fear of judgment or rejection your core beliefs and narratives, habit loops that get you stuck, traumatic memories, and more with a special eye to your sense of who you are and how you relate to yourself. As Elliot loves to point out: How harsh or gentle is the voice in your head? How different would the world be if that voice that’s always with you were more compassionate and understanding? The truth is that our senses of who we are are always bound up with others’ perceptions: We learn to love ourselves from being loved. We learn gentleness from being addressed gently. We grow and heal as we hear words that understand and nurture us—not some cheap, premade words, but words born from attentive, heart-to-heart engagement. Over time fragmented parts of your personality can become whole, depression turn into acceptance, and anxiety give way to vitality and a readiness to face life. Who knows? One day you might be able to look back at everything you are going through with a lens of gratitude! Elliot graduated with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and is certified as a Spiritual Director and a Trauma Professional (currently working on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy certification). Elliot Lee works out of our Frisco location and specializes in helping older teens, young adults, and adults work through anxiety, depression, trauma, spirituality, family relationships, and self-esteem/identity issues. He is fluent in English and in Korean. During his free time, Elliot enjoys cooking, reading, writing, searching for the next favorite indie rock or ambient record, watching Mixed Martial Arts, and attending Eastern Orthodox services and meditation gatherings. Elliot also works as a caretaker for his dad who suffers from dementia.

Mark accepts Aetna, BCBS and Cigna for individuals

Mark sees individuals ages 13+, couples, and families

Meet Mark

Mark Olkowski was born and raised in the Bay Area of Northern California. Before relocating to the Dallas area, he earned his Bachelors in Psychology at San Diego State University and his Masters in Marital and Family Therapy at Bethel Seminary San Diego. He would be the first to tell you that he loves Texas and is here to stay.

Growing up in a family of six with extended family close by, Mark did not lack for a variety of relationship highs and lows. Marital discord, secrecy, divorce, emotional abuse, childhood trauma—many of the challenging aspects of relationships were found throughout his close relationships. And yet his deepest focus remained on the “good” that can be found in relationships—love, friendship, intimacy, passion, safety, acceptance, the sort of personal and interpersonal connections that add hope, security, and vibrancy to life. Through it all, Mark grew to understand that relationships are powerful and became committed to helping them flourish.

Mark wholeheartedly believes that authenticity and vulnerability are vital to building connections. Just as he supports his clients as they dare to let others in, to really be seen and heard, he takes the time to press into his own fears and longings and share them with trusted others. He believes that it is often when we are deepest in the struggle that we grow the most. He has questioned his worth, struggled with shame, felt empty and meaningless, and painstakingly worked through difficult relationships. But, despite the hardship, he has found faith, hope, compassion, forgiveness, and peace in the process.

Today, Mark is someone who finds joy in living. Whether spending time in solitude (perhaps reading), chatting with friends, or being out in nature (even just a walk around the block), he enjoys the simple gifts that can be found in life. He sees the world and the people who fill it as gifts from God and would happily spend his life in the service of others.

Jenny sees individuals ages 15+

Meet Jenny

Jenny Wang works as the Clinical Director at our Frisco location. With over fifteen years of experience, Jenny Wang is passionate about Trauma Recovery. As a trained EMDR and ART clinician, she is trained in two highly tested techniques in order to leverage the neuropsychological and structural components of the brain to treat trauma, depression, complex anxiety and a number of other severe issues.. Both techniques use bilateral stimulation to quickly bring relief to distressing memories, as well as allow the client’s brain to do the healing work. ART is more directive without needing the client to talk about their trauma, while EMDR allows for more of a free form reprocessing method.

Jenny is also experienced in helping teens and their parents through depression and anxiety, a common cause of distressing behaviors and emotions which initially bring them into counseling. Her aim is to help parents and teens rebuild connections that can often deteriorate during those difficult times.

Multi-Cultural Specialty And Better Connection

Jenny is a regular speaker at area churches and organizations. She has also frequently spoken at Chinese churches, particularly to immigrant parents in order to bridge the generational and cultural gap that immigrant parents and their American born children experience. A neuropsychology nerd, she likes to incorporate brain science and practical techniques to help facilitate understanding and communication. Jenny uses a combination of attachment theory and cognitive behavioral therapy in her sessions: We all long to be connected to significant people in our lives, and disconnection is fueled by the fear of the inability for 1) us getting the connections we need, or 2) others providing the connections we desire. Getting To Know Jenny Two weeks before her 17th birthday, Jenny was giggling with friends over Seventeen magazine ads on their way to summer youth camp. The next moment, she recalls being rushed to the hospital after the van they were riding in had been struck by a cement truck. A few years later as her world crashed around her, she could no longer hold onto the facade that she was “okay”. What she didn’t know and didn’t have a name for at that time was the term,PTSD. She had labeled it so many other things that ultimately pointed to some innate deficiency: weak, failure, unworthy. Being able to know how to define her inner world was the beginning of healing and empowerment. Looking For Anxiety, PTSD, Or Teen Counseling In Frisco? Jenny has extensive experience counseling in the following areas: sexual assault trauma, crisis intervention, human trafficking trauma, domestic violence trauma, grief counseling, dissociative disorders, OCD, adoption and foster care work, healing for children and spouses of NPDs and BPDs. Her experience can also help discover the root of areas of disconnection in life and work towards practical steps to move into deep connections. As a trained EMDR and ART clinician, she uses two innovative and highly researched techniques to leverage the neuropsychological and structural components of the brain to treat trauma, depression, complex anxiety and a number of other severe issues.

Outside of the counseling office, Jenny has her hands full with her five favorite people in all the world: her four kids and husband of more than 20 years. They enjoy biking and hiking around Lake Lewisville, serving at their local church, and cheering each other on in all their various activities.
